School sees benefits of New Action Plan...
Students at one school in the UK are finding it much easier to get advice on their career plans.. Our action plan is embedded within the CGC ebook magazine and is accessed as part of the overall careers education within the school.
Jane the advisor receives each students submission via email and is able to quickly assess their career ideas. The students are able to communicate in the plan whether they want some suggestions sent via email or request an interview with the guidance professional. In good example of data protection, the students can express their right to have the information kept on school records and have a copy of their plan sent to the parents or tutors. Jane says that in emailing home she is able to take the opportunity to "advise parents of the careers resources their son/daughter can use on the school website and careers twitter." The action plan is timed in accordance with the school calendar. For year 11 that means completing their action plans in November to tie with the 6th form deadline for application in January. Already yr 7,8's and Yr 10's are completing their plans. It is hoped to repeat the plan with every year group. Jane sees significant benefits of the plan as :-
Bespoke ChangesWe've already improved the plan for the school by adjusting the feedback students can get on their action plans.. This change according to year group now makes the task of providing support for the students more manageable for the careers department.
