Job Description

Ghillie is a Scottish term to denote a game assistant. They  act as guides on deer stalking and may have other roles associated with managing the wildlife on an estate.  The role may be one of acting as a game keeper,pest control on an estate, practical maintenance work, Thr role may also require monitoring the health of wildlife, conservation and ecological work and seek to prevent poaching.  Ghillie’s or Gillie’s may also work as guides on fishing rivers courses, maintaining banks, cutting back weeds, checking breeding areas, managing trees and may be contracted to a fishing lodge as a boatman to give guidance and training to fishermen.
