Golf Administrators provide office support to golf associations, foundations, clubs and charities. Within a golfing association the role may involve updating of the associations website, dealing with handicapping and course rating correspondence, championship and event administration, dealing with general enquiries and assisting at events. Administrators have sound knowledge of the game and rules of golf as well as understanding the unified handicapping system. A background in administration and knowledge of IT office software applications would be required. Working within a golf club the duties could involve taking bookings, sending out mail shots to club members, dealing with correspondence , emails and calls. The role could include preparation of menus for hospitality events, taking notes at official meetings, administration support for junior camps, assisting at competitions or social events. Administrators report to the golf club secretary and work alongside golf coaches, team captains and facilities staff. Entrants into this career would generally have a background in secretarial work or administration and have a keen interest in golf. Vacancies exist with golf unions and local clubs.
