The role involves identifying destinations and calculating hotel allocations required for their travel packages. Hotel contractors need to negotiate the rates and pre-booking allocations, inspecting new hotels, sourcing images for online or brochure marketing and writing suitable descriptions. You will need to be good at developing relationship with hotel managers and suppliers, have a good business acumen for price and value and able to estimate which hotels are likely to sell and estimate demand within your sales budget. The role would involve travelling and a command of a second language is most likely to be required. Day to day work could include analysing and comparing rates of suppliers and competitors, examining hotel contracts and documents, meeting and greeting hoteliers, discussing strategies within the procurement team and travelling to hotels to discuss and negotiate rates. Entrants into this role may already come from a procurement background in another sector with interest in travel or have worked as product managers within the travel sector.
