Pastoral Assistant
Job Description
Pastoral Assistants work for religious institutions and may have varied responsibility depending on the size of the organisation. Duties could include visiting the sick and elderly, organising community events for families and young children. The role may involve assisting the minister in leading services or in developing religious education programmes. Recruitment into this role may come through training within the institution through formal seminary or theological education or through previous experience such as career in youth work, nursing, counselling, education or other relevant career. A number of voluntary opportunities may exist to develop experience in this role that may include expenses and accommodation. These roles are often tailored to young people who may wish to enter into the profession.
