Production AssistantJob Description
The Production Assistant is a supporting role for a theatre's in house production but can also have responsibilities for visiting shows, private hires, external building use and other events. A production assistant can have a wide range of responsibilities such as stock management, building and equipment maintenance and production logistics. The key work involves assisting the producer in ensuring the highest standards of theatre production is met with a given budget. Production assistants attend the meetings, rehearsals, and in smaller theatres assist with prop making, costing and procurement of materials, selling tickets, running errands. They may also be involved in external events helping with set up and take down. This is a hands on role and would require someone who is a confident and organised all rounder. A background in musical theatre and understanding of audio visual, stage construction techniques and general theatre production is needed. This is often a good entry role for those wanting to work in theatre and can lead to a career in stage management or production.
