Tour Operations Executiveif you would like to work in the travel sector and are looking for a varied and interesting opportunity then the role of operations executive may well suit you. This is an entry role for people with good organisational skills, ability to manage a variety of tasks, demonstrate initiative and show excellent customer service skills. The role could involve taking calls from individuals or overseas travel companies to arrange tour excursions in the UK. You could be involved in making bookings for hotels, attractions, restaurants. Prepare quotations and research interesting itineraries for the travel companies or for online enquiries. You may need to go on excursions and visit attractions to build your product knowledge and arrange group discounts and negotiate deals. You will need a good geographical knowledge of the key tourist attractions in your area. A fluency in English would be essential as well as having another european language would be beneficial for this kind of work. Opportunities exist for graduates to enter this career directly with either experience or degree in tour and travel management. Some employers do run apprenticehips for school leavers at 16 or those with A levels to get training with employment that may lead to this kind of role.
