Wind Turbine Installer
Job Description
Domestic Wind turbines can be building mounted or pole mounted and can be connected to the grid or offline systems using batteries for storage. Electricians wishing to install these systems need to be MCS certified or work for a certified company as a sub-contractor. The work involves installing meters, converters, assembling mountings and turbine blades, testing and commissioning of the turbine. Installers may also do wind surveys, advise clients on planning considerations, purchase equipment, calculate sighting locations, and manage earth work activity. This role, also known as Electrician (renewable energy) may be combined with other renewable technologies. For roles working on large scale commercial wind farms consider Wind Turbine Technician.
