Is it ever too early to introduce the world of work to little people? As Dubai nursery has started an initiative to explore the world of work with the children. Children need to explore life and learning and touching on the world of work is an important element in that process. The challenge is encouraging teachers and parents to give them a broad view of the work place and to direct children to have open minds about the possibilities, whilst not dismissing their occasional narrow thinking. The Dubai article reveals children who want to be Astronauts. It would be perhaps to easy to dismiss this as unrealistic but we'd take away perhaps their interest in space and science and learning about the universe in which we live. One does not know whether that child will go on to work at the European Space Agency, become an Astrophysicist or perhaps become one of those unique few who does become an Astronaut. We should rejoice in the goals and aspirations these children have in setting their sights on such aspirational careers. Also the mere fact they are connecting their lives to some occupation of the future and making some contribution to our world should also make us excited as parents and teachers.
